He obtained his law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in 1995 and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from London School of Economics, graduating “Cum Laude” in 1996. Before joining LEC Abogados, he served as Director and Legal Advisor to Royal Dutch Shell (Venezuela) and was a partner at Baker & McKenzie (Caracas and London). Fluent in English and Spanish. Member of the Caracas Bar Association, since 1995 and the International Association of Petroleum Negotiators, since 2005. Juan Carlos is a professor of Hydrocarbons Law at Universidad Monteávila, a visiting professor in the Department of Financial and Economic Law at Queen Mary University in London and a professor in the International Hydrocarbons Management Program at IESA.
